Obituary

Ann L. Cording

Ann L Cording passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after succumbing to a rare cancer of the peritoneum/appendix.  Ann was born in Lafayette, IN on January 13, 1947, to George and Dorothy Dierstein.  Ann grew up in Lafayette with wonderful childhood memories including her high school winning the 1964 Indiana State Basketball championship and winning a Junior Achievement Midwest Leadership award.  Ann went on to receive her BA and MS in Speech Pathology from Ball State University, Muncie IN and she taught in Grand Rapids, MI, Waukesha County and was a Diagnostician for Special Needs in Green Bay.  On August 7, 1976, she was united in marriage to J William Cording and they lived most their married life in Newburg and had two children, Emily and Bradley.  Ann loved motherhood and always attended Emily and Brad's sporting events plus volunteered for their various activities. Spending time with her grandsons and daily walks with her dogs held special memories.

Ann retired after 23 yrs working for Restat/OptumRX (prescription benefit management) where she began as a Customer Service Representative before becoming the company's Trainer.  Before and after retirement, Ann kept busy being active with her church (Fifth Ave United Methodist), Washington County Senior Meal program, Newburg election official, Newburg Planning Commissioner and wherever she could be of help.   She was always looking for things to do and/or activities to organize.  Ann especially looked forward to the numerous Mystery Trips and Broadway shows she attended with her daughter, Emily.  Yearly, Ann looked forward to helping to 'organize' Emily's classroom at the beginning and the ending of her school year.   Ann's faith in God, positive attitude, sense of humor and finding a silver lining with most things, helped her through this final journey.  She loved being outside, taking walks, staying active and especially being around family and friends. She was a gabber.

Those Ann leaves behind are her husband, Bill, children Emily (Jeff Langley) Cording and Bradley (Katie) Cording.  Grandchildren Ben, Joey and Jake Cording; Granddog Maxwell; sisters Mari (Steve) Adwell and Linda Dierstein; in-laws Cathy/Mike Rapp and Jan/Chuck Cording and other nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents and parents-in-law, Ann is predeceased by her brother, Jim; niece-in-law Meghan Rapp and her loving fur-babies Buffy, Toby, Jack and Bentley.

A HUGE thank you to everyone for their prayers, calls, cards, encouragement and support given during this journey.  A Special thank you to Ann's longtime childhood friends Carolyn, Debbie and Jeanne as well as her college roommate Pris, (Larry) for their constant and continued support, love, humor and memories. Also, the staff at Kathy Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Ann over the last month.
