Obituary

Andrew Matthew Zuehlke, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in the Town of Ashford on June 28, 1938 to Andrew W. and Verena Zuehlke. He attended St. Martin Catholic Grade School and Lomira High School Class of 1956. He married Marion (nee Albert) on June 2, 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eden. They resided in West Bend their entire 54 years of marriage. Andy was employed at Gehl's, Kettle Moraine Electric and then retired in 2000 from WI Gas/WE Energies after 23 years of service. He served in the Army from 1956-1958 and in the Reserves from 1958-1962. Andy qualified for (EOD-Detachment) Explosive Ordinance Disposal. He did his training at ORD School in Indianhead, Maryland.

Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling in his younger years. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing cards and shuffleboard, and tending to make his lawn one of the nicest looking on the block. He loved watching football games and especially watching or going to NASCAR races. His retirement years gave him more opportunities to do the things he loved such as helping to babysit the grandchildren, and later attending all their sport activities. It allowed him to spend many winters in Arizona and take a lot of other trips to favorite locations. Retirement also gave him the pleasure of finding a part-time job at the Super Car Wash owned by Dennis and Maggie Seideman where he was happily employed for 8 years. He always focused on helping others when he could and by donating to local charities. Andy was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and volunteered at the church when he could. He also volunteered at the Interfaith Caregivers for several years.

He is survived by his wife Marion; son Jeff in Chandler, AZ and daughter Connie (Mark) Geib in Luxemburg, WI; grandchildren, Mason and Griffin Geib; brothers-in-law Tony (Joanne) Albert, Dave Albert, Donald (Fern) Sampson; sister-in-law Marge Albert and good friend Barb Loehr. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Andy is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Marie Albert and father-in-law Tony M. Albert; stillborn daughter Debra Marie; sister Therese (Berg) Sampson and aunt, Florence Zehren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N 8th Ave, West Bend) with Fr. Patrick Heppe presiding.
