Obituary

Agnes Dorothy Legate (Nee: Dornacker) affectionately known as “Aggie”, age 92 of Slinger, passed away on Wednesday April 22,2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 15, 1934, in the Town of Addison, the daughter of Theodore and Lorraine (nee Hartmann) Dornacker. As a child, she attended St Lawrence and local schools. She was united in marriage to James E. Legate on January 5, 1952, who later passed away on September 26, 1978. Together they owned and operated the Ackerville Inn. Aggie worked at various places and retired from Cedar Community Health Care Center as a CNA.

After her retirement, she enjoyed the outdoors and stayed active in her home and tended her garden and many flowers and many birds and wildlife visited them. Delighted many people with sharing her flowers, plants and photos with family and friends. The camera went with her everywhere as she was the family photographer, and she also put together many photo albums. Aggie also enjoyed craft shows, flea markets, rummage sales and shopping at St Vincent De Paul, and occasionally going out to dine with family and friends. She appreciated the little things in life. Aggie was a Packer fan, and enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Family Feud and Dr. Oz.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son James H. (Sharon) of West Bend, Daughter-in- Law Laurie ,grandson James T. (Brielle), great-great-grandchildren Mason, Madison and Camden, sisters; Delores Sauer of Allenton, Janette Cardarelle of Evansville, IN., her brother Jerome "Sam" (Lee Ann) Dornacker of West Bend, brother -in-law Ronald Legate, sisters-in-law Lois Dornacker, of Kohlsville, Kay Dornacker of West Virginia, many nieces, nephews, other a relatives and many friends special friends who were an important part of her life.

Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, daughter Judy Ann in infancy, son Robert, brothers Richard and Raymond Dornacker, brothers-in-law Edmund Sauer, Robert E. (Marilyn) Legate, Fred (Charlotte) Legate, & Milton (Marge) Legate, sisters-in-law Valeria (Milton) Legate, Patricia Hartmann, Roberta Zastrow and Jenny (James) Whitt.

A memorial service for Aggie will be held on Wednesday, April 29,2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend. Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 P.M. Chaplain Mark Gates will be officiating. Lunch will be served immediately following memorial service. Burial will take place at later date at Union Cemetery in Slinger.
