Vincent “Shorty” Brunner, age 89 years of Fredonia, died in the early morning hours on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Harbor Club.
He was born in Milwaukee on October 5, 1924 to the late Jonas “Jack” and Ruth (nee Sackett) Brunner. Shorty married Lucille (nee Goeppert) on April 26, 1952 and settled in Fredonia to raise their family. He retired from Leeson Electric in 1989. His hobbies were fishing and woodworking. Shorty’s passion through the years was playing music. He started playing the drums in the 1950’s. Together with his cousin, Jim Brunner, and Roger Uhrmann, they formed the Rhythm-Aires. Later he went on to form Shorty’s Polka Pals, performing publicly for over 40 years.
Shorty is survived by his wife Lucille, children Virginia (Mike) Lamb of New Castle, PA, James “Bruno” (Bev) of Cedar Grove and Jerome “Mouse” (Nancy) of Random Lake, Ray (Cheri) of Porterfield, WI. He is further survived by his grandchildren Erica Neubauer, Ed Kreis Jr., Elizabeth (Haywood) Canada, Sheila, Mike (Angie), Mike Bruni, Katie (Ryan) Tiefenthaler, Kyle, Curtis (Tiffany), Cory, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Tina Marie and sister Beatrice.
A Funeral Service will be at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Vineyard Community Church of Grafton (1597 Cty. Trunk V) with Pastor Pat Mulcahy presiding. Visitation will be at the CHURCH ONLY on Wednesday, November 27 from 3:00 pm until time of service (5:30 pm).
