Dinner with the VFW Color Guard: We Support That!

Phillip Funeral Home hosted dinner as an expression of gratitude to VFW Post 1393 Color Guard. They help us dispense military honors to families throughout the year.  The occasion proved to be a lot fun — a great evening out — and we were thrilled to demonstrate our support and share a wonderful meal together.

Color Guard Gallery: Phillip Funeral Home was pleased to host the members VFW 1393 and treat them to dinner for their selfless work on behalf of military families. 

Last week Phillip Funeral Home invited VFW 1393 Color Guard veterans and their spouses to tell stories, have a few laughs and share some food. It wasn't too hard to remind ourselves of the sacrifices our armed service members have made in defence of peace around the world. 

But most import, the leadership at Phillip Funeral Home wanted to say thank you for their local support.

"We wanted to show our deep respect for the men and women who served us and continue to serve us," Ann Phillip said. "These veterans are remarkable people. True patriots." 

Made up of volunteer veterans, the Color Guard are able to assist in formal requests for U.S. Flag Presentations to school and community organizations, marching in parades, or displaying the National Colors at various local memorials, schools and community events.

It's during military services at Phillip Funeral Home that the local VFW Color Guard shines, lifting the formality of the funeral ceremony for a deceased service member.

"Their presence, their seriousness, it's just striking how the tradition affects families and attendees — and us in fact — in the most heartfelt and powerful ways," said Courtney Husby, a funeral director at Phillip. 

Phillip Funeral Home chose Jerry's Old Town Inn in Germantown to host the gathering, which was lively and informal.
